Erich Perrotta was born in Verona on the 22nd May 1973. After having completed the compulsory education, he obtains the scientific school leaving certificate and develops, during these years, a deep passion for classical studies and philosophy in particular. In 1998 he is awarded Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Verona.

In about 1989 his passion for the art of making stringed instruments develops when he occasionally works at easy works, repairs and customizations of music instruments.

He begins the creation of stringed instruments in about 1998 (the first guitar entirely made by him has been in fact realized during June of this year) and the first idea of the electric bass “Augustine” is dated to this same year, together with the idea of the laboratory "Ran de Gal", that will be then opened in 2004.

The meeting with the M.° bow-maker Claudio Righetti goes back to 1998, when he introduces Erich to the art of professional lutherie. From now on he starts the methodic study of stringed instruments, classic and electric guitars and his artistic maturity will be evident with the realization of new instruments that will be also shown during several exhibitions of this sector.

In 2001 he starts his professional activity focusing his art mainly on classical guitars and electric instruments. This is the year of the realization of “Augustine” model for electric bass and his work on the model of classic guitar realized by the famous french guitar-maker of last century Robert Bouchet.

In 2003 he enters into agreement with Claudio Righetti and they will be working together until 2004, during this period he makes his very first steps into the art of bow-making and classic lutherie.

Between 2003 and 2004 he develops several projects for archtop guitars, that will be finally completed at the end of 2004.
In April 2004 he opens his laboratory "Ran De Gal", that is located in the heart of the old town of Verona and starts very important and productive collaborations with the most famous violin-makers currently working in Verona.
